A. R. Malik: Pakistan Has Vital Interest in Iran Gas Pipeline

US Special Representative for Pakistan and Afghanistan Richard Holbrooke warned on June 20 that Pakistan should not participate in a major gas pipeline with Iran, and he said that the United States would provide energy to Pakistan.

Holbrooke did not, however, elaborate as to how his country could meet the growing energy needs of Pakistan, which are increasing 10% percent per annum in recent years.
