Casio to Release the World's first*1 Bluetooth® V4.0-Compatible Watch

Tokyo- (PanOrient News) Casio Computer Co., Ltd. announced today that it will release a new next-generation Bluetooth® V4.0-compatible (Bluetooth® Low Energy Technology) “GB-6900” G-SHOCK wristwatch, with the first three models going on sale from late December 2011.

The “GB-6900” is the world’s first*1 Bluetooth® V4.0-compatible watch and includes features such as automatic present-location time adjustment, which supports communication with Bluetooth® Low Energy Technology smartphones to enable automatic synchronization with the smartphone’s time.

The alarm and vibration signal function feature allows incoming smartphone call and e-mail notifications be received on the watch. Users can stop their smartphone ringing or vibrating simply by tapping their watch.

Taking advantage of the low power consumption of the new Bluetooth® technology, the watch offers a battery life of approximately two years.

Color variations of this model allow users to choose from black, red and white models.

Casio said it will continue to develop products that can be linked with other devices that support Bluetooth® V4.0.

The new models will be priced at 18,000 yen (around US$240.)
