Friday, January 21, 2011

Tokyo - (PanOrient News) The Foreign Ministry in Tokyo said Japan "is in a great shock and indignant" at the suicide bomb attack targeting a crowd of police recruits on January 18 in Tikrit, Iraq, which caused many casualties.

A statement issued by the ministry on Thursday said Japan expresses its deepest condolences for those who have been killed by the attacks and to the families of the victims.

The ministry stressed that "terrorism cannot be justified for any reason, and Japan reiterates its firm condemnation of these atrocious acts of terrorism that indiscriminately target innocent people."

Japan hopes and expects that Iraqi new government and people overcome ethnic and religious differences and make efforts for the stabilizing of the security situation and reconstructing its economy, while promoting national reconciliation.

Japan will continue to extend its proactive support for such efforts by the Iraqi people, the statement said.
