Japan Welcomes the Lifting of the State of Emergency in Algeria

Tokyo- (PanOrient News) The Government of Japan views positively the decision by the Algerian Government to lift the state of emergency, declared in 1992, as a step toward the stability and development of the country and a positive response to the opinions of the Algerian people, a Foreign Ministry statement said in Tokyo.

Japan hopes that the Algerian Government will further listen to the voices of the people in moving forward and implement politics and administration. Japan will closely follow future developments, according to the statement.

Following upon the outcome of the visit by Minister for Foreign Affairs Seiji Maehara to Algeria last year, Japan hopes that its friendly relationship with Algeria will develop further. Japan will continue to cooperate with Algeria in its efforts to achieve stability and development of the country.
