Wednesday, August 10, 2011
Tokyo- (PanOrient News) Casio Computer Co., Ltd. today said in a press release it will add to its ‘EX-word’ series of electronic dictionaries with five models to be released in Japan on August 30.
The new models are a high school model (XD-B4850), a junior high school model (XD-B3850), a business model (XD-B8600), a “culture” model (XD-B6600), and a Portuguese model (XD-B7800).
The high school model (XD-B4850) features an expanded array of native English language voice content, and is the first electronic dictionary in the world to contain voice content in kanbun (classical Chinese,) according to the release.
The Portuguese language model (XD-B7800) is also a world first and contains both Portuguese dictionaries and grammar books.
EX-word series is Japan’s best selling electronic dictionary, and all models contain features including twin liquid crystal displays (the dictionaries’ main screens and sub panels are color liquid crystal displays.) The color sub panel improves visibility and supports language study through functions such as rote learning cards.
The features also include picture and keyword searches. These functions enable searches for content to be done using keywords or by choosing from a list of pictures.
Also included an "Action Sensor" which allows the user to turn pages and view the display upside-down and lengthwise by tilting the screen.
