Japan Aims to Eliminate Budget Deficit by 2020

Tokyo -- In a press briefing held at the Kantei this afternoon, members of the National Policy Unit outlined the Japanese government's fiscal consolidation targets for the next ten years, including the main objective of eliminating the annual budget deficit by 2020.

Under this scenario, the budget deficit, which currently stands at 6.4%, would be halved by 2015 and eliminated by 2020.
