YANGON: Myanmar Airways International (MAI) has restarted its flights to Dubai, following a temporary suspension due to the closure of airspace in the region.

According to the airline, a return flight to Dubai was operated on March 6 after an assessment of the latest regional airspace updates and after receiving the necessary clearance from the Dubai authorities. The scheduling of further flights on the Dubai-Yangon route remains subject to continued approval from the relevant governing bodies.

MAI reaffirmed that it will prioritize the safety, security and well-being of both its passengers and crew members.

Myanmar Airways used to operate four weekly flights to Dubai. Most passengers were either workers in the UAE, visitors or students traveling to Europe through Dubai, with a few being business travelers.

Regarding the resumption of Myanmar Airways regular flights, future decisions will be made on a case-by-case basis, taking into account the evolving situation in the Middle East.

It is estimated that approximately 90 percent of the seats on all four flights were booked.
