PanOrient News | Japan’s First Lady Akie Abe Participates in Tokyo Rainbow Pride Parade

Akie Abe, wife of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, participated in the annual Tokyo Rainbow Pride parade this Sunday to show her support for AIDS awareness and sexual minorities.

Wearing a white suite with pins and a red ribbon in support of gay rights and AIDS awareness, First Lady Abe waved to the crowd as she rode the parade rout in a truck featuring lively music and a dancing drag queen.

Mrs. Abe, who is known for her liberal disposition in contrast to her conservative husband, says she wants to help build a society where everyone can live a happy and full life without fear of discrimination.
