Tokyo Welcomes Flotilla Inquiry It Failed to Promptly Support

Tokyo -- Yesterday the Japan Foreign Ministry welcomed the establishment of a UN panel of inquiry into the Israeli commando assault in June on a Turkish aid ship attempting to bring supplies to the people of the Gaza Strip.

The press secretary's statement reads, "Japan has supported the efforts of [UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon] to establish the Panel, from the view that a prompt, impartial, credible, and transparent investigation should be conducted."
