PanOrient News YANGON: Myanmar's State Administration Council Chairman, Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, met Chinese President Xi Jinping in Moscow on Friday to discuss promoting bilateral relations and regional stability. Both leaders attended the military parade for the 80th anniversary of the victory over the Nazis in World War II.
President Xi expressed his heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Myanmar for the damage and losses caused by the recent major earthquake. He expressed confidence that the Myanmar government and its citizens will effectively carry out reconstruction and recovery efforts. Additionally, he assured them that China would provide the necessary assistance as needed.
Xi also noted that this year marks the 75th anniversary of China-Myanmar relations and reaffirmed China's consistent support for Myanmar's development, sovereignty, and stability. He pledged to continue China's assistance in Myanmar's development and peace-building efforts.

Min Aung Hlaing expressed deep gratitude on behalf of the government and people of Myanmar for China’s unwavering support, highlighting the mutual respect shared between the two nations. He later told local media that his meeting with China’s President was highly productive, establishing a strong foundation for enhancing bilateral relations and cooperation. Both countries are set to continue their close collaboration in the future, which will bring mutual benefits, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing said.
Observers from Asia are optimistic about the recent summits between Myanmar's leaders and their counterparts from Russia, China, and other nations. They believe these meetings indicate a potential shift in the isolationist policies of countries that have imposed sanctions on Myanmar. As Myanmar strengthens its ties with Asian powers and neighboring countries, recent aid from Japan and others in the aftermath of the earthquake has prompted some nations to soften their stance. Analysts foresee a promising future for Myanmar's diplomatic efforts in the coming months, especially with elections approaching.
